Jimmy Page to tour

Led Zeppelin guitarist, Jimmy Page, is excited to complete work on his next solo album and hit the road.  It seems that the reunion concert has him ready to become active again after his long vacation since his last tour with the Black Crowes in 2000.

"Next year, I have every intention of playing music live and making it — manifesting it. I've got it," Page stated during a chat in December.  "I've got it there. I've got the music waiting.  It just needs to be done.  So that's it. That's what I'll be doing."

INXS to tour

It is a complete mystery who will be the lead singer when INXS launches their first world tour in two years, following their appearance at the BC Place Stadium during the Winter Olympics in Vancouver on February 24th.  They've been recording with a wide variety of singers, including Brandon Flowers, Rob Thomas and Vanessa Amorosi. 

Eagles/Fleetwood Mac tour

One of the biggest stadium tours EVER will take place this summer, when the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac share the stage.  Dates are coming soon.

Uriah Heep to tour US

Uriah Heep will tour the US for the first time since 2002.  Confirmed dates include:

Jun. 18 - Chattanooga, TN - Riverbend Festival - Bud Light Stage
Jun. 22 - New York, NY - B.B. King Blues Club & Grill
Jun. 24 - St. Charles, MO - Ameristar Casino St. Charles

Jul. 02 - Algona, IA - Freedom Park

They are touring behind their 2008 album, "Wake the Sleeper".

Scorpions call it quits

In an email yesterday, the Scorpions announced that they will call it quits after the completion of the upcoming 2-year tour behind their newest album, "Sting of the Tail", which will be released on March 23rd from Universal Music Enterprises.

The Cult Make "Love" This Summer

   When The Cult start a 2 month tour in August, they will be treating die-hard fans by playing their 1985 album "Love" in its entirety. 
   The Cult are continuing an awesome new trend by some of rock's biggest names to play entire albums in concert, including:

• Aerosmith - "Toys in the Attic"
• Ratt - "Out of the Cellar"
• Judas Priest - "British Steel"
• Motley Crue - "Dr. Feelgood"
• Todd Rundgren - "Arena"

Billy Squier Is Touring

Billy Squier is touring this summer, but that bastard isn't coming ANYWHERE near me!!!  What up wit 'dat?!?  You'd think he would play the Orange Peel in Asheville, NC so he could visit his parents over in Hendo!  I'll do the same; but, if anyone has any pull - suggest this to him!

Cheap Trick's New Album Title

   Cheap Trick has announced that the title of their next album is "The Latest".  Sorry; that's all I've got for you. 
   Cheap Trick is on tour this summer with Def Leppard and Poison.  If you are going to the Charlotte, NC show; let me know and you can buy me a beer!

"Yes" and Asia Tour!

   The ultimate prog/rock tour of all time is taking place this summer! 
   "Yes" and Asia!  The reason I am putting " " around Yes is because Jon Anderson is not touring with them.  Benoit David is taking over vocal duties while Jon is healing his throat.  I saw this version of Yes last December and they put on a great show; but you better like older Yes music. 
   This will be the first time I have had the pleasure of seeing Asia.  If you haven't already done so; you need to check out there AWESOME new album:  Phoenix.  Let me know if you go to the Glen Allen, VA concert; I will be in the "gold circle" area!

Rocklahoma 2008 Line-Up Announced

For those that don't know what Rocklahoma is; its a huge 80s concert festival that takes place in Pryor, Oklahoma each July.  This year's concerts take place between July 10-13.  Last year's event had such classic groups as Twisted Sister, Ratt, Poison, Warrant, Skid Row, Quiet Riot, and White Lion. 

Brad Delp Tribute Concert

   

    ClassicRockRevisited reports that Boston bandleader Tom Scholz has clarified news that Boston members would reunite for a tribute to their late lead singer Brad Delp, who killed himself earlier this year.  Scholz now says that he has "invited" members Sib Hashian, Barry Goudreau, Fran Sheehan, and Fran Cosmo to perform "Don't Look Back" at the concert.  He also says that Sammy Hagar, Michael Sweet of Stryper, and Mickey Thomas of Starship have all offered to sing in place of Delp.

Rush Tour Announced

     Pollstar.com has posted 62 Rush dates for their tour in support of the new album, Snakes & Arrows, which will be released May 1st.  You can pre-order the album at Amazon for $12.99.  You can sample and purchase the first single, Far Cry, at Tunes.

New Cars Are Back

     The New Cars are back, after last year's tour won over fans, with another run of North American dates this spring/summer.
     So far, the outing starts May 11 in Kinder, LA, and a handful of dates are booked primarily in the eastern half of the US into August.
     The New Cars is made up of original Cars members Elliot Easton (guitar) and Greg Hawkes (keyboards), along with Todd Rundgren on vocals, longtime Rundgren collaborator Kasim Sulton on bass and former Tubes drummer Prairie Prince.
     The band's new incarnation performs The Cars' biggest hits in concert, as well as some of Rundgren's material and several new songs.  Last June, the quintet released a live album, dubbed "It's Alive," which includes three new studio tracks.

Possible Police Set-List

     The Police are busy in Vancouver, Canada rehearsing for their upcoming world tour where fans will get a solid "best of" their five albums.
     While some of the more obscure tracks such as Tea In The Sahara from 1983's Synchronicity and Rehumanize Yourself from 1981's Ghost In The Machine have been de-vaulted, the final set list is still a ways from being finalized.
     Now, if they'll just announce some dates on  the east coast!

New Aerosmith Album & Tour

     

     Aerosmith is planning to mount a huge world tour this year.  In an interview with ultimate-guitar.com, guitarist Joe Perry said, "What we're looking at is coming back and playing some places we haven't played a long time.  And places we've never played.  It's been eight years since we've been in Europe, and I don't how long it's been since we've been in Australia, and these are all things I want to do and I know all the other guys in the band feel the same way, too -- we want to get back and play back out in the world."
     Perry added, "We've played America enough for different reasons and we've stayed here, but it's time for playing in other parts of the world.  We're an international band and we've played out there, and it's time to get back and go to a lot of places we haven't played in awhile."
     Aerosmith and Velvet Revolver are expected to play dates in South America in April.  Also, bassist Tom Hamilton said the group will likely hit Europe in the spring.
     Aerosmith is working on a new studio album they hope to release by the middle of this year.

Asia/Styx/Foreigner Tour

 

     Every summer there is a huge tour package of classic rock icons.  This summer is no different:  Asia, Styx, and Foreigner!  Details are still being worked out, but the bands are looking at a number of shows together in June and July.  Styx singer-guitarist James "J.Y." Young says that he's not sure how it's going to work out:  "There are definitely shows with Foreigner.  I don't think that Asia is on every one of those shows, but I think... I've heard Asia's gonna be on some of 'em.  I've heard varying reports about how many or how few Asia is actually gonna participate in."

Van Halen Tour Off ... Again!

     Van Halen's announced comeback with original singer David Lee Roth has been shelved before it has even happened.
     The new line-up of Van Halen was to include Eddie Van Halen's son Wolfgang who now officially beats Gary Cherone as the least time in the band.
     Wolfie replaced original bass player Michael Anthony who was either fired or left on his own accord, depending on who you speak with.
     The reunion with Roth got off to a shaky start when Eddie's girlfriend (and former porn star) Janie Liseweski put out a press release announcing the reunion before it had been run by David Lee Roth.
     It will be very interesting to see which form of Van Halen will perform when they are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next month, along with R.E.M. and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.

Roger Waters Back For More

Did you miss Roger Waters the first time around, last year?  Listen up; this is the closest we will ever get to live Pink Floyd again!
     Roger Waters will mount a second round of the United States with a return engagement of The Dark Side Of The Moon Tour.
     Waters recently performed the show in Australia to rave reviews.
     The first half of the show features a virtual smattering of the best of Pink Floyd and some solo works.
     Part two is a complete performance of the classic Dark Side of the Moon.
